Mask outlet opened at Biswanath Chariali district

Biswanath Chariali: A mask sale outlet to be run by self-help groups was opened on Tuesday under the aegis of Assam State Rural Livelihoods Campaign, Biswanath district in the premises of the Biswanath District Deputy Commissioner’s office by Tripurendra Pator, CEO of Biswanath Zila Parishad.

Additional Deputy Commissioners Parvej Amin and Manoranjan Payeng were also present on the occasion. The brand name of this locally made mask is ‘Assamese Max’. According to Habibullah Ahmed, District Planning Director, Biswanath district, there are about 5,000 self-help groups under the development blocks in the district and all the members of the groups make such masks and Assam State Rural Livelihoods Campaign, ASMM in Biswanath district is trying hard to inspire all those who have chosen the path of self-reliance.

Papri Saikia Devi, Chumi Bora Das and Dipali Kurmi, on behalf of the self-help groups, were also present at the centre. According to them, the price of masks made of cotton cloth and cotton blended cloth has been fixed at Rs 25 to Rs 30 in addition to the masks made from gamosa in the sales outlet. About 5,000 such masks have recently been released for sale.

This mask outlet located within the premises of the office may be helpful for the public who go there to seek prior permission at different times during the ongoing lockdown.
