Mass satyagraha against Citizenship Bill

TINSUKIA, June 14: Tinsukia Zilla Karmachari Parishad president Amar Ranjan Saikia has threatened to initiate suitable steps against the government if the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 is not scrapped. Taking part in the AASU-sponsored mass satyagraha on Thursday, Saikia said the proposed controversial Bill would bring a black era in Assam. In his address, AASU general secretary Lurin Jyoti Gogoi called upon the public to resist the passage of the Bill through democratic movement. More than 25 organizations, which included Sodau Asom Chutia Chatra Santha, SAMYCS, Mottock Chatra Santha, Mahila Samity and AJYP, participated in the rally.
