Massive Anti-CAB protests continue in Numaligarh

Numaligarh: Massive protests and agitation continue against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) in various places of Numaligarh in Golaghat district. Various organizations, stakeholders of the society and common people are raising their voices against CAB.

The Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Rangajan regional unit staged protest against the Bill and burnt copies of the Bill near Rangajan Tiniali on Saturday morning. In a move to show their disapproval and disappointment, the AJYCP protesters also put black flags across the Rangajan street. Hundreds of protesters have seen the gathering and raising slogans against the Bill and against the Central Government as well as the State Government.

The Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS) Morangi unit and ATASU (All Tai Ahom Students’ Union) Morangi unit staged a strong protest and took out a torchlight rally near the Doigrung area on Saturday evening. SMSS and ATASU activists along with local people held a rally on the NH-39 with torchlights in their hands. Anti-CAB and anti-government slogans were also given by the protestors.

On the other hand, AJYCP West Morangi regional unit also held many protest programs against the Bill. AJYCP activists took out a bike rally from Telgaram to Golaghat on Sunday. The bike rally started from Telgaram and reached Golaghat via Purabangla. The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) also held many protests across the Numaligarh-Golaghat area recently. On Sunday evening, thousands of AASU activists took out a torchlight rally on NH-39 near Doigrung.
