Massive Deforestation in Reserve Forest Areas Under West Kamrup Forest Division

BOKO: Massive deforestation in reserve forest areas is going on under the West Kamrup Forest Division. The State Forest department has allegedly failed to stop it. On the other hand, timber smugglers are cutting immature Sal trees simultaneously in every reserve forest area. Hundreds of immature Sal trees were recently felled by timber smugglers in the Mauman- Jongakhuli reserve forest area under Singra Forest Range office. This reserve forest is situated just about 500 metres away from the Singra Range Forest Office.

When asked about this, Range Officer Abdur Rouf Ahmed refused to comment. Meanwhile, PCCF Arvind Madhab Singh said that he would ask the APCCF and Zonal Officer to investigate and file a report in this matter.
