DIBRUGARH: In a significant show of public support ahead of the Assam Assembly Election 2026, constituencies across Upper Assam—particularly Khowang and Duliajan—witnessed massive turnouts during election rallies, reinforcing the growing momentum in favour of the BJP-led alliance. Despite adverse weather conditions, large crowds gathered in Khowang, sending a strong political message that enthusiasm for development-driven governance remains undeterred.
The overwhelming participation is being seen as a clear indication of public confidence, while also posing a challenge for Opposition parties.
The rally in Khowang saw strong backing for BJP Assam Pradesh candidate Chakradhar Gogoi, with supporters turning out in large numbers.
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted that welfare initiatives such as the Orunodoi scheme have significantly benefited local communities. He further reaffirmed BJP’s commitment to expanding the scheme’s coverage and increasing financial assistance to Rs 3,000 per month to support more beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, Duliajan echoed similar energy, with vibrant participation reflecting what Chief Minister Sarma described as a ‘growing momentum for progress.’ The Vijay Sankalpa Sabha campaign events across the region have continued to draw enthusiastic crowds, underlining a strong resolve among voters for continuity in governance and development.
Addressing public concerns, the Chief Minister reiterated their people-centric approach, stating that the problems of the citizens remain their top priority. “Every individual’s concern is our concern. We are committed to providing solutions and ensuring relief to all,” Chief Minister Sarma emphasized during the campaign.
Focusing on youth empowerment, Dr Sarma outlined its vision for a ‘Sonali Bhobishyot’ (Golden Future), promising not only employment but also entrepreneurial opportunities. Key announcements included the creation of 2 lakh government jobs and financial assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh for 10 lakh young entrepreneurs over the next five years. “This is not just a promise, but a firm resolve of the NDA to accelerate Assam’s growth trajectory,” the Chief Minister asserted.
