GUWAHATI: After passing Chef Sanjeev Kapoor's final test, home cook Nayaniyoti Saikia was awarded a check for INR 25 lakhs along with the ultimate prize—the prestigious "MasterChef India" trophy and the Golden Chef's Coat.

First runner-up Santa Sarmah of Assam and second runner-up Suvarna Bagul of Mumbai each received a check for INR 5 lakhs.

Nayanjyoti finally returned to his home town in Assam after receiving the trophy and celebrating with other home cooks in Mumbai. The MasterChef India champion was greeted warmly at the airport. Garlands, an Assamese Gamocha, and few other things were used to welcome the winner. Nayan was observed becoming very emotional as he saw the crowd assemble to welcome him.

To share the footage of his magnificent greeting, Nayanjyoti posted it to his Instagram account with the remark, "Homecoming... "I'm so grateful and delighted beyond words that all I can say is thank you."

A customary Bihu performance welcomed Nayanjyoti to his village, and everyone appeared to be having a big party that day. The home cook undoubtedly astonished the judges and fans throughout the entire season with his inventive dishes and some delectable desserts.

Chef Vikas Khanna also posted a reel with unseen pictures of Nayaniyoti with the team, and wrote a special message for the winner. He wrote, "Nayan your journey from the hidden kitchen in your bedroom to the vastness of the Universe. You make us all believe that if we are honest, work hard, focused, learn, train nonstop & stay calm....the victory is ours. Presenting to you the WINNER of 1.4 Billion hearts & MasterChef."
