DOOMDOOMA: Minister for Labour Welfare and Home (Prison) Rupesh Gowala inaugurated the Material Recovery and Waste to Compost Plant at Uchamati area on Wednesday. This is the first of its kind in the whole of Tinsukia district built under the auspices of Doomdooma Municipal Board (DMB) under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Urban) with financial aid received from Fiftieth Finance Commission.

The plant represents a key step towards sustainable waste management and environmental responsibility in the region. It aims to enhance the segregation, recycling, processing and composting of municipal waste contributing significantly to the goals of sanitation.

Minister Gowala expressed satisfaction at the coming up of this Material Recovery and Waste to Compost Plant at his home town.

The inaugural function was attended by DMB Chairperson Kanta Bhattacharya, Executive Officer, DMB Bidyut Bikash Changmai, Doomdooma Co-District Commissioner Nuzhat Nasreen, Principal, Bir Raghav Moran Government Model College Dr Amorjit Saikia, Social activist Dr Pranab Jyoti Deka, former Headmaster, Rupai High School Prakash Dutta and former President, Tinsukia ZilLa Xahitya Xabha Arjun Baruah, and other dignitaries of the town.
