Medical team investigates patient's allegation against hospital

DHEKIAJULI: One person allegedly lost his eyesight after an eye operation in a hospital in Dhekiajuli town. On Thursday, a medical team arrived at Drishteedan Eye Hospital, Dhekiajuli town to inspect the operation theatre of the hospital and to investigate the allegation of Dinu Biswash (61) and his family members. Dinu Biswash of Rakhyasmari had undergone an eye operation in the hospital on August 5. After the operation, he allegedly lost vision in one eye.

On Thursday, the medical team lead by Dr Biswajit Hazarika, Sonitpur District Prevention and Eradication of Blindness, investigated and stated that they did not find anything wrong in the operation process but further investigation would be carried out.

The medical team examined Dinu Biswash and advised him to go to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for better treatment. The medical team comprised Dr Sanjib Kakati and Dr Sunanda Tamuli, Specialist Physician, Tezpur Medical College and Hospital, and Dr Anuradha Baruah, Subdivisional Health Officer, Dhekiajuli Primary Health Centre.
