KOKRAJHAR: With a goal to reduce the disease burden of the country, the Chirang District Health Society has also initiated to conduct TD (Tetanus and Diphtheria) vaccination campaign in the district. In this connection, a preparedness meeting of the District Task Force for TD vaccination campaign under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner of Chirang, GautamTalukdar was held to discuss the strategies to be adopted during the campaign period here in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Karmadev Brahma, Sidli Circle Officer Jagdish Brahma, Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Ratul Chandra Bordoloi, Inspector of Schools BijayBaisnab, officials of paramilitary forces and senior doctors and officials of the health department of the district.

Deputy Commissioner GautamTalukdar, while addressing in the meeting, emphasized a collaborative effort from the education, health and social welfare departments for TD campaign for successful implementation of this programme in the district.

Dr. HirenGogoi, consultant, WHO, presented a PPT on the subject explaining the importance of TD Vaccine and the strategy that needed to be chalked out at community and schools and steps that needed be taken during and post vaccination. As per the order of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, the TD vaccination campaign will cover all the children of 10 to 16 years of age.

In Chirang district, the District Health Society has already formed 147 vaccination teams with sectoral medical officers and health workers, including ANM, ASHA and AWW, to cover the target 16,469 beneficiaries, in the district.
