UDALGURI: A meeting on preparation of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav was held at the conference hall of Superintendent of Police, Udalguri on Friday. The meeting discussed the arrangements and maintenance of COVID protocol during the observation of the day. Due to COVID menace, the programme will be restricted for a few invitees only. Udalguri DC Dr P Uday Praveen has invited suggestions from the people of civil society and the local citizens have suggested airing of national songs in the villages on August 15.
The awards and felicitations will be conferred visiting the respective awardees' households. The medical staff, ASHA workers and other NGO's name will be declared on the day for felicitation for their extraordinary services during COVID-19 pandemic, the DC said.
Udalguri SP Hiranya Barman urged the people of the locality to adhered with the COVID protocol and assist the district administration. The pregnancy mortality rate is the highest in Udalguri district. The health check-up of the pregnant women are going on as one-fifth of the pregnant women's health were found vulnerable, Dr P Uday Praveen informed in the meeting. Assistant Commissioner Nilakhi Baishya and other departmental heads were also present on the occasion.
