Meeting Held At DC Office To Discuss Peaceful Observance of Muharram

Dibrugarh: For discussion the necessary arrangements needed for ensuring the peaceful observance of the festival of Muharram, a meeting was held at DC office on Monday under the presidentship of Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha.

In the meeting, Jha held discussions with the office bearers of the Muharram Committee of the town, and sought cooperation from all sides in carrying out the schedule of the day in a peaceful way. The members of the committee also urged the district administration to make arrangements for proper lighting in Tinikunia as well as drinking water. While giving assurance that their needs would be taken care of, Jha urged the committee members to prevent exhibition of fire by the mourners and use of two-wheelers without silencer pipes during the procession. They were also informed to take prior necessary permissions with respect to various activities of the procession. Jha also informed that in the interest of the ones participating in the procession, a medical team by the Health Department as well as police forces would be deployed.
