Meeting of committee for District Gender Sensitization held in Dhubri

DHUBRI: An executive body of the internal committee for District Gender Sensitization of Dhubri district was held on Wednesday at the video conference room of the District and Sessions Judge under the president ship of the District and Sessions Judge, Dhubri, Thaneswar Kalita, who is acting as the chairman of the committee.

The committee is to see, investigate and monitor any cases of sexual harassment of women employee in the precinct of courts, District Bar Association and other Tribunals situated at Dhubri district. It was formed under the guidelines of the High Court keeping in view the dictum of the Sexual Harassment Act.

The meeting was attended by nine of its permanent members who reviewed the scenario of Dhubri district in respect of any case arising out of sexual harassment of women. The meeting expressed its satisfaction since there was no case of such nature reportedly recently both at the courts and Bar and Tribunals.

The meeting, however, adopted a resolution to extend the strength of the committee by incorporating one more member from CWC (Child Welfare Committee) of Dhubri. The meeting also resolved to open an account in the name of the committee to meet the necessary expenditure in conformity with the guidelines issued by the High Court. The meeting further resolved to organize two awareness camps at Hatsingimari and Bilasipara with active support of the District Legal Services Authority, Dhubri.
