LAKHIMPUR: The Congress candidate for Tezpur HPC, MGVK Bhanu visited the strong rooms in Tezpur, Biswanath Chariali, Gahpur and Lakhimpur on Tuesday along with All India Congress Committee secretary and former MLA of Bihpuriya constituency, Bhupen Borah. After their inspection on the security measures of the EVMs in the strong rooms, they took part in an interaction with the media persons of Lakhimpur district headquarter at North Lakhimpur Press Club.

“My victory in Tezpur HPC is hundred per cent sure. The conscious voters of the State have exercised their franchise in favour of Congress candidates, not the BJP’s, opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill,” he stated while addressing the media persons. He further alleged that the ruling party had spent a large amount of cash in the election in order to influence the common voters.

Reacting to the secret shifting of unused EVMs of the election, he said, “The representatives of the political parties should be invited when the unused EVMs are shifted. An enquiry should be ordered to determine why the unused EVMs were shifted secretly without inviting the representatives of the political parties.” However, he said that he had seen no loopholes in the security of EVMs in Lakhimpur.
