MGVK Bhanu appeals to tea community people to vote for Congress while campaigning in Dhekiajuli

DHEKIAJULI: Congress candidate for Tezpur parliamentary constituency, MGVK Bhanu on Sunday addressed an election meeting at ACMS Building, Borsola Branch Office, Dhekiajuli. The election meeting was chaired by former Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly and secretary, ACMS, Borsola branch, Bhima Nanda Tanti. The meeting was attended by Tanka Bahadur Rai, former minister, Aniruddhya Tanti, APCC member, Sagar Tanti, ACMS Borsola Branch garden supervisor, president and secretaries of 19 tea gardens under ACMS, Borsola branch and the tea garden labourers, among others.

Addressing the tea garden workers, MGVK Bhanu alleged that the BJP government did not do anything beneficial for the tea garden workers. “BJP does not want progress of the tea garden workers and whatever it assured to the voters is only the election lollipop,” he said and added that during the tenure of State Labour Minister Pallab Lochan Das, the daily wages of the tea garden workers was not hiked to Rs 350.

Bhima Nanda Tanti said that ACMS since its inception had been working for all-round development of the tea garden workers. Aniruddhya Tanti, APCC member, urged upon the tea community workers to strengthen the ACMS by casting their valuable votes for MGVK Bhanu. At that time Dhekiajuli Police arrived at the spot to carry out search operation in the private vehicles used by Bhanu and others. Dhekiajuli Police, under the supervision of Mahendra Mohan Patuary, OC Dhekiajuli Police Station, searched all the vehicles parked at the ACMS campus but no cash or anything was found.
