Golaghat: The members of mid-day meal workers of Golaghat district staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner office on Thursday and shouted slogans in support of their long-pending demand of salary hike and other facilities.
The protesters strongly opposed the decision of the government to hand over the Mid-Day Meal scheme to a private organization. They slammed the government and criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government for their false assurance and promises to general people.
A memorandum was submitted to Chief Minister of Assam through the DC, Golaghat containing of demands like salary hike up to Rs 5,000, to stop privatization of mid-day meal scheme, the release of their pending salary.
The protesters said that the State Government has been doing injustice to them by giving them a very minimal salary. They would have to do 5-6 hours of duty every day, but the government did not give any interest to the mid-day meal works. Despite doing something good initiative to the mid-day meal workers, the government wanted to hand over the mid-day meal scheme to a private organization. They demanded immediate solutions to their demands so that the mid-meal workers could work more dedicatedly and sincerely.
