GUWAHATI/LUMDING: Migom Doley (IRPFS), assumed charge as the new Divisional Security Commissioner, Railway Protection Force, Lumding Division, NF Railway on Monday.

He is the first and the only IRPFS officer from the entire North East India. Prior to the new posting, he had served as the 'Divisional Security Commissioner', Adra Division, South Eastern Railway. In Adra, he was instrumental in conducting 'Operation Nanhe Farishtey', a drive for the rescue and rehabilitation of young runaway children from railway premises and trains. This mission led to the rescue and rehabilitation of more than 100 children.

He joined IRPFS as the 'Assistant Security Commissioner' in the Howrah Division. Being a local from the region, he has fair knowledge about the issues in the region. Apart from the regular task of prevention and detection of railway crimes and prevention of railway passenger-related crimes by RPF, his focus areas would be the rescue of runaway children from the railway premises and detection of narcotics and smuggled goods being transported through railways.

North East India serves as a source for many traffickers engaged in human trafficking-related to domestic labour as well as sex trafficking. Further, North East India, being part of the infamous 'Golden Traingle' of narcotics production, there is a lot of scope to prevent the transportation of narcotics through railways in the Lumding Division, and especially at Guwahati railway station, stated a press release.
