Millet cultivation in flood-affected area inaugurated Baksa district
Under the joint initiative of NABARD and Uttar Betna Samaj Sangskarak Bahini (NGO) located at Maharipara Goreswar, ‘Millet crop cultivation was inaugurated at Maharipara in the district of Baksa.

GORESWAR: Under the joint initiative of NABARD and Uttar Betna Samaj Sangskarak Bahini (NGO) located at Maharipara Goreswar, 'Millet crop cultivation was inaugurated on Friday at Maharipara in the district of Baksa. It was inaugurated on January 9 at Madhab Dev International Auditorium with 20 districts as 'Model Milet Project' as a part of 'International Milet Day'.
A model NGO 'Uttar Betna Samaj Sangskarak Bahini' of Baksa District has taken initiative to cultivate millet crop in 150 Bighas of land in flood affected areas of Goreswar Revenue Circle area. It may be mentionable that in relating to weather change, the milet crop will be very useful to the farmers with a marginal cost.
This millet project was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner of Baksa District Masnada Magdalin Patil. She urged the farmers to cultivate multiple corps in a plot of land for their greater interest. She also advised the farmers to make adjustment with the weather circle.
The district Development Manager (DDM) of NABARD for Nalbari and Baksa districts Utpal Bezbaruah explained the various generation of Millet Crops and its profit. The Circle Officer of Goreswar Revenue Circle Manash jyoti Bora has also advised the farmers.
The flood-affected people of the area also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Baksa to take urgent step to reconstruct the broken embankment of Sukla river in the villages of Pukhuripar,Tengajhar and Natkuchi, which has damaged a huge cultivated area, roads, culverts etc.
