KOKRAJHAR:  Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary on Monday visited Kokrajhar to take stock of the families of the Assam Police personnel of Kokrajhar who were injured in the recent Assam-Mizoram border clash. Four police personnel from Kokrajhar district sustained injuries in the firing.

The minister visited the houses of Dimasha Brahma at Dotma, Jahirul Islam at Joypur, Krishna Paul at Mukhigaon, Shaktiashram and Shivasharia Narzary at Dhaolabari, Binakhata. Talking to media persons, Patowary said that it was unfortunate that many Assam Police personnel had to lose their lives and were injured due to the border clash. He said that Assam's land had been encroached upon by people from Mizoram and the clash took place due to encroachment.

Patowary said that any dispute over boundaries of States would be solved by the Centre but not by the State itself, adding that Mizoram could not take responsibility for solution of boundary dispute. He also said that the dispute should be solved through mutual discussion but not by aggressive action.

Patowary was also accompanied by former minister and vice-president of the BJP, Rekha Rani Das Boro and leaders of Kokrajhar district BJP as well as officials from Kokrajhar district administration.
