Minister Parimal Suklabaidya holds AIWCL board meeting at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati

 SILCHAR: Minister for Transport, Excise & Fisheries Parimal Suklabaidya chaired the 3rd Board of Directors Meeting of Assam Inland Water Company Ltd. (AIWCL) at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati.

It’s worthy to mention that AIWCL was formed by the approval of Assam Cabinet on May 3, 2022, the Chairperson of the company being Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma & Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya being the Vice Chairperson. The meeting was attended by the Directors Manish Thakur, Commissioner & Secretary, Finance Department; Adil Khan, Secretary, Government of Assam, Transport & Dr. Laxmanan S, Secretary, Government of Assam, Industries & Commerce Department.

In the meeting, the board of directors held discussions on strengthening the staff strength of the newly formed company including the line of model about the procurement of staff from Inland Water Transport Department. The board during meeting also approved the appointment of Gaurav Upadhaya as the CEO of AIWCL.

AIWCL is also focusing on asset management of it’s company through the establishment of river side industrial estate for ship building, setting up of crew training centre at Pandu, Guwahati including a permanent company building at the same area. The board meeting also approved the above asset management strategies including the operational requirements that would be needed to run this company.
