DEMOW: With just a few days left for the bye-election, the political parties have been organizing poll-campaign meetings in every nook and corner of Thowra Constituency.

On Saturday, State Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika, Jorhat MP (Member of Parliament) Tapan Kumar Gogoi, MLA of Dibrugarh Constituency Prasanta Phukan, former MLA of Thowra Constituency Kushal Dowari are campaigning for Sushanta Borgohain – the BJP-led alliance party candidate for the Thowra Constituency. The bye-election campaigns are being held in various booths in the Maharani Panchayat under Thowra Constituency.

Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, State Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika claimed, "We will win." He further said, "The masses of this constituency hardly know the Raijor Dal candidate"; adding that "during the floods, he (Raijor Dal candidate) used to stay in Guwahati and during the times when the people faced problems from the wild herds of elephants, the (Raijor Dal candidate) did not help them." Minister Hazarika added, "I was present in the (Raijor Dal candidate) village booths and when I asked the public as to whether they know the Raijor Dal candidate -- Dhaijya Konwar, 40 per cent of the masses replied that they did not know Konwar. Since the person is not known in the village then how would he work for the Constituency?" Also present during the campaign meeting, were Sushanta Borgohain -- the BJP-led alliance party candidate for Thowra Constituency along with other party members.
