Minister Pramila Rani Brahma felicitates senior citizens in Baksa district

Tamulpur: With a view to creating awareness for welfare of the senior citizens, a day-long sensitization programme ‘Chetana’ was held by Social Welfare Department of Assam in association with Bodoland Territorial Council, Kokrajhar recently at Nagrijuli Market in Baksa district. A meeting was held which was conducted by Baksa District Social Welfare Officer Mira Das Boro where State Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma participated in the meeting. A total of 1000 senior citizens were felicitated. Addressing the mass gathering, Pramila Rani Brahma said that in this modern era senior citizens are neglected by their sons, daughters for which they have to take shelter in old age homes. In this meeting, Commissioner Secretary of Social Welfare Rupak Majumdar delivered the welcome speech.
