MORIGAON: Minister of Panchayat & Rural Development and Tourism Ranjeet Kumar Dass on Tuesday paid an official visit in Morigaon and reviewed the progress of various welfare schemes implemented by the central government at Morigaon DC’s conference hall.

District Commissioner Anamika Tiwari chaired the review meeting, where Minister Dass discussed the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-G) scheme with the Block Development Officers of Morigaon district. He then discussed the number, activities, debt facilities, and market connections of self-help groups formed under Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM). The Minister directed the district administration to provide more training and skill development opportunities for the members of these groups so that they can expand the market for their produce. He also emphasized on completing all the ongoing schemes in time and with transparency, and recommended awareness programmes at the Gaon Panchayat level.

The meeting was attended by Morigaon MLA Ramakant Deori, Chief Executive Officer of MZP Ananta Kumar Gogoi, Jagiroad Co-District Commissioner Hriday Kumar Das, Additional District Commissioner Nitisha Bora, Assistant Commissioner Arishma Kashyap, block development officers, representatives of Panchayat and Rural Development department, and senior officers and employees of other concerned departments.
