SILCHAR: The international flesh trade racket that covers the remote part of the mainland India has come in the forefront with the rescue of a minor girl from Nepal in Silchar town. The girl, a resident of Pokhra in Nepal was sold and eventually trafficked to the red light area in Silchar. The two traffickers, both from Nepal assured the girl a good life and proper education in India. The girl was later rescued by Silchar police from a place in Meherpur area of the town. Ujjwala Shelter Home, an NGO played a vital role in supplying information about the girl to the police as the local traffickers sensing police mobility had shifted her to a house in Meherpur. Sources said, both the main culprits were earlier arrested by Nepal police and on the basis of their confession, the trafficking of the minor girl came to the knowledge of the police.

A member of Ujjwala shelter Home said, two days back they got the lead that a minor girl from Nepal was trafficked to Silchar redlight area and after confirming the incident they sought the help of Cachar police. On Wednesday night the NGO could locate the exact place where the girl was shifted to and subsequently police raided the house and rescued her minor girl. Efforts were on to repatriate the girl to her country with a North Bengal based NGO.
