Minor Girl Gang Raped in Diphu, Prime Accused & Accomplices Arrested

Diphu: In a major breakthrough, Karbi Anglong police arrested three culprits in connection to an alleged gang rape incident in Diphu that took place on last Tuesday evening.

The three culprits were identified as Tenison Ingti, Chesong Ingti, Birsing Bey.

All the accused were reported absconding from the day of the incident and were caught from Dimapur, Nagal and Manja area.

A Case No.256/2019 U/S 376 DB IPC R/W Section 6 POCSO Act was registered against the three accused at Diphu Police Station. They were later sent to judicial custody.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, Investigation officer, DSP (Headquarter) N. Karishma said that one of the culprit Tenison Ingti was hiding in Dimapur, however, the investigating team managed to trace him out from his mobile numbers access to the police by Tenison's parents, while the two culprits identified as Chesong Ingti and Birsing Bey were trace out from Manja.

"On the night of September 17, we got information, where a victim of the gang rape of a minor has been admitted at Diphu Civil Hospital. We went to the hospital and after asking the victim it was confirmed it was a gang rape. The incident happened between 12 00 non to 4 p.m. of September 17. The place of incident is at Basic LP School colony, here," DSP (Headquarter) N. Karishma told media earlier during a press briefing.

According to police sources, the incident took place taking advantage of the absence of the sister of the house Tenison Ingti, the three accused Chesong Ingti, Birsing Bey and Tendon Ingti committed the crime.

"We summoned the owner of the house for interrogation and accordingly, the whereabouts of his brother Tendon Ingti was traced. Later, Tenison Ingti was caught from 6 Miles, Dimapur, while the two other accomplices Chesong Ingti and Birsing Bey, based on the statement of Tendon Ingti, were arrested them from Manja on Thursday," added DSP (HQ) N. Karishma.
