Misappropriation of Fund in Nowboicha Legislative Assembly Constituency Alleged

LAKHIMPUR: Strong reaction prevailed among the people of Nowboicha Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) when the wall of an open stage being constructed collapsed following heavy rain on Sunday. The open stage is being constructed at Pabha Chariali High Madrassa playground for a month. Crack lines can be seen in the wall when it has not even been a month since the construction of the wall.

Around Rs. 50,00,000 allotted under the MLA United Fund has been spent for its construction. Local people alleged that the contractor concerned had not constructed the building as per the estimate but just misappropriated the fund for his profit. The contractor is allegedly close to the MLA of Nowboicha LAC and now the role of the MLA is under the scanner. The local people have demanded the district administration to initiate due steps against the contractor.
