Miscreants burn down house and shops during a bandh called by IPF in Haflong

Haflong: During the indefinite bandh called by the Indigenous People’s Forum, Haflong, the district headquarter of Dima Hasao, witnessed a series of violent incidents, including the torching of a government vehicle, dwelling house and shops in and around Haflong.

The torching of the house of Sanjib Hojai at Upper Bagetar and shops at N Kunjung belonging to Haichinglunle Jeme and Haidulungle Jeme by unknown miscreants late at night even after the bandh was called off, has raised serious concern among the people. To take stock of the situation Chief Executive Member of N C Hills Autonomous, Debolal Gorlosa visited the places and met the victims.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner has organized a meeting on Thursday at 11.30 AM at the conference hall of the Circuit House for formation of peace committee involving the president/secretary of All Apex Bodies’ Co-ordination Committee, Haflong, the president/secretary of Haflong Merchants’ Association and the president/secretary of all student bodies.
