Miscreants loot liquor shop at Sivasagar amid lockdown

Sivasagar: Amid the on-going lockdown to contain the spread of the COVID-19, a group of miscreants looted a liquor shop in Sivasagar town. The incident came into light on Tuesday evening, the police said. Taking advantage of the deserted place the miscreants barged into the shop and looted liquor of worth several lakh of rupees. The incident happened at the Station Chariali area of the upper Assam town, which is well-known for several historical monuments. Police said that the looters also took away cash of Rs. 10,000 from the shop’s cashbox. On the other hand, Shailadhar Baruah, the owner of the wine shop said to media that he discovered the incident on Tuesday evening. “When I visited my wine shop, I found that miscreants broke into the wine shop and looted liquor. They had also looted about Rs 10,000 cash from the cash box.," said Baruah. A few ago one such incident was reported from Delhi.
