Guwahati: Bodies of four riders who went missing on July 19, were found in a deep gorge in Arunachal Pradesh's West Kameng district, on Friday.

The four riders were from Assam belonging to different riding clubs and had gone missing in Arunachal Pradesh.

As per reports, they were travelling in a car from Nagaon to Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. They had started their journey on July 19 were missing since then.

''Their car, which was completely damaged, along with the bodies were found in a deep gorge near a river bank a few kilometers ahead of Sessa waterfalls near Bhalukpong, West Kameng's,'' PTI quoted Superintendent of Police (SP) Sangey Norbu as saying.

The SP said that since the witnesses heavy fog, their car might have skidded off the road, adding, ''However, the exact reason of the accident is yet to be ascertained.''

Meanwhile, the police have launched an operation to recover the bodies from the gorge.

Notably, their families were also unaware of the whereabouts of these riders as they can't establish contact with them over the phone.

The deceased were identified as Nayan Basumatary (30), Hirok Boro (32), Bedanta Barmahela (30), and Sanjiv Das (34).

In a bid to ascertain their location, their friends and families had also appealed on social media platforms and a few news platforms seeking help from people to extract their location.
