TINSUKIA: Tinsukia police, in its endeavour to regulate the chaotic traffic scenario of Tinsukia town, launched 'Mission Safe Tinsukia' that is likely to bring respite to commuters and car owners.
Responding to several healthy suggestions put forward by citizens and media persons, the Superintendent of Police of Tinsukia, Abhijit Gurav initiated slots for designated parking areas and levying penalties for violators. "Police have taken very strong action against such violations," said Gurav, adding that a total of Rs 9 lakh had been collected from traffic violators in the last four days alone. He observed that parking of heavy vehicles on busy streets and movement of heavy vehicles inside town during peak hours were among many reasons for traffic congestion.
