GOLAGHAT: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) vide an order dated December 18, 2020, removed former minister and present 95 No. Golaghat Constituency MLA Ajanta Neog from the post of president of Golaghat District Congress Committee.

In the order, the general secretary (organizing) of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Ranjan Bora said that this decision had been taken after approval of the All India Congress Committee (AICC). The order copy has been also forwarded to Jitendra Singh, general secretary of AICC.

It is being discussed in various media that Ajanta Neog will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Neog till now has not given any clear statement about the issue. Recently, she met Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with Himanta Biswa Sarma and Piyush Hazarika, which indicates the possibility of her joining the BJP. On the other hand, the APCC has taken disciplinary action against Ajanta Neog by removing her from the post of Golaghat District Congress Committee president for violating protocol of the Congress party.
