KOKRAJHAR: MLA of Kokrajhar East Lawrence Islary on Wednesday morning laid the foundation stone for the construction of a boundary wall of the proposed office building site of Bodoland Senior Citizens Forum (BSCF) at Adabari near Kokrajhar town.
Talking to reporters, MLA Islary said that the senior citizens of Kokrajhar who served in different fields at different positions of different professions played key roles for the transformation of Kokrajhar in particular and the BTC as a whole but they had no permanent office building. He said that the boundary wall in the proposed office site at Adabari was going to be constructed at a cost of Rs 10 lakh from his untied fund. He also said that the CEM of BTC Pramod Boro had already assured to extend financial support for the construction of the permanent office building of the Bodoland Senior Citizens Forum for creating a good working environment.
Islary said that the BSCF was a platform of the leading citizens comprising retired principals, college teachers, officers of various departments including defence, school teachers, and social workers who had made vast contributions in social transformation. He said that their role and guidance in transforming society was of utmost importance and therefore, the Government of BTR was giving due recognition and importance to their services to society.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony for construction of boundary wall was also addressed by Chairperson of Kokrajhar Municipal Board (KMB) Pratibha Brahma and attended by retired principals of Kokrajhar Govt College Dr Binay Kr Brahma and Dr Surath Narzary who is also the President of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and office bearers of BSCF, among others.
