MLA Prashanta Phukan appeals to rename Bogibeel Bridge as Atal Setu

Dibrugarh: Dibrugarh MLA Prashanta Phukan appealed the Bogibeel Bridge to be rechristened as Atal Setu after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Friday at a press meet.

He said that Vajpayee, during his stint as the Prime Minister, paid much attention to the aspirations of the people of the Northeast, and therefore, such a gesture as naming the bridge as Atal Setu would be befitting. Phukan also mentioned that the former Prime Minister set up the Ministry of DONER (Development of Northeast Region) for he could empathize with the need for the development of the region.
