Mock drill for paramedics, staff of SK Roy Civil Hospital on safety measures in Hailakandi

Hailakandi: State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in collaboration with the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Wednesday conducted an awareness cum mock drill to give valuable tips to the paramedical personnel and general staff of SK Roy Civil Hospital on safety measures in the event of natural calamities like earthquake, flood, and fire.

The team of SDRF gave demonstrations before the paramedical and general staff at a session held at the civil hospital here as part of an awareness-cum-mock exercise on disaster preparedness.

District Programme Officer, DDMA, Rupjoy Maibangsa said the main objective to conduct such a training programme is to generate awareness among the paramedics and general staff in the field of safety and also to train them to deal with with any kind of emergency, either natural or manmade.

Maibangsa said that the prevention of disaster begins with awareness. “Besides school, the hospital is one of the best venues for creating such awareness about disasters and the response mechanism to mitigate its effects,” said Maibangsa.

The superintendent of the hospital thanked the SDRF team and the DDMA for the mock drill exercise. Station Officer, Fire and Emergency Service was also present. AAPDA Mitra volunteers assisted the SDRF team in conducting the mock drill exercise.
