Model polling station leaves voters awestruck in Udalguri district

TANGLA: In the second phase of Assam Assembly election covering the three LACs of Udalguri district viz. Udalguri, Mazbat and Paneri, the authorities introduced a model polling station in Tangla Model High School and an all women polling station in Chatgari Government MV School of Tangla town in Udalguri district, which drew the attention of the voters on Thursday.

The model polling station was decorated with balloons and offered crèche facility, selfie zone, drinking water as well as waiting room facilities along with wheel chairs and other equipment for specially-abled persons.

"The all women managed polling station is an initiative taken up by the district administration of Udalguri to boost women participation in the electoral process in the district," said an official. "The model polling station offered selfie zone where young and old alike clicked photos after exercising their franchise," said Nagendra Bharati, an official managing the station.
