Mohan Bhaira Award conferred on Nikunja Pathak

Nalbari unit of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and Nalbari Zila Unnati Sabha conferred the Mohan Bhaira Award on Nikunja Pathak, an ardent follower of folk art on Tuesday.

NALBARI: Nalbari unit of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and Nalbari Zila Unnati Sabha conferred the Mohan Bhaira Award on Nikunja Pathak, an ardent follower of folk art on Tuesday.

Awardee Nikunja Pathak, a resident of Sualkuchi, is a famous player of flute and shehnai. He was born in 1957 and has been playing the flute since 1966. The Nalbari unit of AASU and Nalbari Zila Unnati Sabha have been conferring this award in name of Mohan Bhaira, a renowned player of dhol, since 2009

AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath, education secretary Bhabajit Bezbaruah, central committee executive member Riyajuddin Ahmed, and other dignitaries were present at the function. Krishna Roy, the founder producer of Abahan Theatre, presented the award on behalf of the Nalbari unit of AASU and Nalbari Zila Unnati Sabha to Nikunja Pathak. This award consists of cash Rs 10,000, a souvenir, cheleng sador, japi, gamosa and a citation.
