MORIGAON: People of greater Laharighat area with a population of 2,76,492 lakh have been affected by massive flood every year. This time the Morigaon District Water Resource department has decided to protect the area from erosion by setting up embankments of porcupine and bamboo on the bank of the River Brahmaputra for the safety of the life and property of people.

The department has built embankments of more than 40 porcupines and bamboos on the bank of the River Brahmaputra. With the construction of these embankments, people of the area have heaved a sigh of relief. Executive Engineer of Water Resource department, Lusan Choudhary, SDO Jurun Ali Ahmed and JE Prabin Das have completed the embankments with porcupine and bamboo.
