Move on for automation & digitalization of 108 services

GUWAHATI: Since the beginning of the new 108 Project since April 1 2019, GVK EMRI has embarked on a new journey of automation and digitalization of its processes so that all the prerequisites of the new tender is met and also to bring about a huge change in the space that it is operating.

As part of GVK EMRI's agreement with the Government of Assam, the entire hardware and software infrastructure of the old 108 system has been overhauled and new systems has been put in place so that better operational efficiency is attained and ease of access of the 108 ecosystem for both public and employees is achieved, stated a press release.

To start this new phase, the organization has shifted from the earlier system of manual assignment of ambulances to Computer Aided Dispatch so that automation is achieved in this facet and ambulance assignment is done in the shortest possible time. Further, in order to make life easier for our valuable on-field employees, various applications have been developed such as the Pilot App, e-PCR app etc., so that the time consuming process of manual filling of records can be avoided and a one-stop solution of inputting patient and vehicle related information can be uploaded digitally through the mobile phone that has been made available to every 108 ambulance operating in the State. Further, the earlier manual fuelling system has also been revised to fleet cards now to move along the path of digitalization, which has significantly reduced manual paperwork and, in turn, has helped the organization to achieve new levels of operational efficiency through the application of automating the process.

Apart from the various on-field applications that have been developed for the on-field employees of the organization, various systems have been put in place in regards of capturing attendance of the in-house employees. No manual records are maintained for attendance and only biometric data is considered as the only source of attendance of in-house employees and the pay roll is processed on the data fetched from the biometric software.

As the organization has envisaged full automation of processes, it has developed an 'Attendance' application for on-field employees with a vision of reducing paper records as well as to capture attendance record and leave management through integration with HRMS of on-field employees digitally. The app has been installed in the mobile phones of all the 108 ambulances and training of the new attendance app has been imparted to all GVK EMRI employees in the last 15 days.

Only biometric-based attendance data is applicable for GVK EMRI in-house employees for payroll generation and salary disbursement and, hence, the organization has directed on-field employees vide an Office Circular to adhere to the 'Attendance App' for marking their attendances as no manual records or attendance data will be considered for making payroll for on-field employees henceforth.
