MP Dr Rajdeep Roy, MLA Deepayan Chakraborty Flag Off Silchar-Naharlagun Special Train

SILCHAR: Barak Valley got one more train, as MP Dr Rajdeep Roy, Silchar MLA Deepayan Chakraborty along with railway officers flagged off Silchar-Naharlagun train on Monday. This summer special train connecting Barak Valley with a part of Arunachal Pradesh would, in the initial stage, run for 11 trips from both terminals till August 29.

The special train (No. 05638) would depart from Silchar at 1.50 pm every Monday and reach Naharlagun at 8.30 am the next day. The train, consisting 20 coaches including AC 2 tier and 3 tier as well as sleeper class coaches, would run via Badarpur, Lumding, Dimapur, New Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Dhemaji and North Lakhimpur. Dr Rajdeep Roy said that if the passenger traffic seemed commercially viable, then this train might be made a permanent one. NFR is going to run another summer special train between Guwahati and Agartala from June 22 till September 1.
