MP Naba Kumar Sarania's ST certificate is fake: BJSM president Janaklal Basumatary

KOKRAJHAR: The Vigilance Officer of State Level Scrutiny Committee (SLSC), after examining the documents of Kokrajhar MP Naba Kumar Sarania in the election case filed by Bodoland Janajati Suraksha Mancha (BJSM), has found that the MP does not belong to ST community, said BJSM president Janaklal Basumatary.

Talking to the media at Kokrajhar Press Club on Saturday, Basumatary said since the ST certificate of MP Sarania has been found to be fake by Vigilance Officer after thorough examination, he is now liable for action. Basumatary alleged that the Kokrajhar MP, who is the president of the Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) after leading a non-Boro organization for long years, was a killer, murderer, anti-national, and a non surrendered dreaded ULFA commander.

"He is creating atrocities over the Boro community by unleashing hatred, ill will, and creating communal tension between Boro and non-Boro communities. He is threatening to destroy the Boro tribal political, social institution, even by abolishing the tribal reserved land rights, belts and blocks," Basumatary added.

Further, he said the MP belongs to Sarania community and the government agency issued him ST certificate in 12/10/2011 as Boro Kachari, without proper verification as per guideline issued by Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

"By using this fake ST certificate he is allowed to contest Kokrajhar ST reserved MP constituency in 2014 which he won by creating sharp polarization of Boro and Non Boro communities. Despite petition to cancel the said fake certificate before SDO (C) Tamulpur, certificate counter signing authority in 11/06/2014, no action was taken by the authority. He won the election by using this fake certificate as evidence that he is an ST. The court did not adjudicate whether he is Boro Kachari or not," Basumatary claimed. "There may be deliberate delay for action taken by the SLSC at the political interference of some influential minister of ruling party", he alleged.

He added that it's urgent to cancel Sarania's fake and fraudulent certificate to save genuine ST people of the Kokrajhar tribal reserved constituency from the menace of Boro and Non Boro communal tension unleashed by him. He said the Supreme Court guideline says that the scrutiny committee has to complete this certificate cancelation proceeding within three months but it has already been delayed.
