KOKRAJHAR: In a significant boost to healthcare infrastructure in the region, a state-of-the-art 16-bedded Dialysis Unit, established under the Corporate Environment Responsibility (CER) initiative of IndianOil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bongaigaon Refinery (BGR), was formally inaugurated at the Bongaigaon Civil Hospital on Friday.
BGR sources informed that the inaugural ceremony was graced by Phani Bhusan Choudhury, Member of Parliament, Barpeta, who officially dedicated the new facility to the public. The event saw the esteemed presence of Dhruba Jyoti Das, District Development Commissioner, Bongaigaon, Dr BN Deka, Joint Director of Health Services, and Musukha Boro, General Manager (Employee Services), IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery, along with other distinguished officials from the Health Department of Bongaigaon. The newly-inaugurated unit marked a pivotal enhancement to the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of Bongaigaon Civil Hospital. With 16 operational beds, the facility is now equipped to serve a larger number of patients, significantly improving access to critical dialysis services. Post installation of this facility, Bongaigaon Civil Hospital will be able to diagnose up to 48 patients per day.
Speaking at the inauguration, MP Phani Bhusan Choudhury lauded IOCL-Bongaigaon Refinery’s commitment to community welfare through its CER initiatives. He emphasized the vital role such facilities play in addressing the growing healthcare needs of the population and expressed confidence that the unit would greatly benefit patients requiring regular dialysis.
Musukha Boro, representing IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery, reiterated the company’s dedication to supporting local communities and contributing to the region’s socio-economic development. He highlighted that this dialysis unit was a testament to IOCL’s ongoing efforts to enhance public health infrastructure.
The Bongaigaon Civil Hospital expressed its gratitude for the timely and crucial support from IOCL Bongaigaon Refinery, underscoring that the new unit would considerably alleviate the burden on patients who previously had to travel long distances for dialysis treatment. This collaboration between a leading public sector undertaking and the local health administration exemplified a successful model for corporate social responsibility, directly impacting the lives of citizens.
