KOKRAJHAR: The muhurat of new Bodo film Birgwshree was held on Wednesday at the premises of the Baokhungri Festival site in Kokrajhar. The film will be produced by Rongjali Film and TV Entertainment Society, Kokrajhar.

The Secretary of BTC, Naren Ch Basumatary, in presence of noted artistes and producer and director, switched on the camera after breaking coconut. The ceremony was attended by noted producer, director and lyricist Ranendra Nath Brahma, renowned actor Amar Narzary alias Gwmbwr, noted singer and artist Manamati Brahma alias Dangkhwl Lwdw, advisor of Kokrajhar district Dularai Boro Harimu Afat (DBHA) Chakradhar Narzary and others.

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary of BTC, NC Basumatary said the film Birgwshree would be tough work as it is based on the history of Thengpakhri who fought with the British soldiers. He said there were few Bodo films based on history. The time has come to produce films on history to let people know about the glorious past of Bodo history, he said, adding that the annexation of the Bodo kingdom by Ahoms and its war had been forgotten. He also said the present generation should be aware of history and that there should be more films based on history. He thanked the producer and hoped that the new film would be loved by the audiences.

The film, which is being directed by Ranendra Nath Brahma, will have artistes like Amar Narzary, Manamati Brahma, Sharoti Mashahary, Firfila Brahma, Sanjila Basumatary, Hamid Mashahary, Alongbar Muchahary, Kwmta Basumatary and others.

The shooting of the new film started from Wednesday. The film will focus on the history of the Anglo-Bhutan war and the roles played by Jaolia Dewan and Thengpakri, both of whom sacrificed their lives at the hands of British soldiers.
