Mukhles Ahmed: A Tribute

Our Uncle Mukhles Ahmed, whom we fondly called “Mazuka” breathed his last on January 21 at his residence at Fauzdary Patty in Nagaon. A man of simplicity and amiable nature and honest to the core, he was deeply loved and respected by everyone.

Born at Sukanjuri Tea Estate, Nagaon on September 28, 1927, he was the second son of Late Musleh Uddin Ahmed and Late Jesimon Nessa of Fauzdary Patty, Nagaon. Remaining a bachelor for the whole life he devoted his life to the uplift of the Nowgong Sports Association since its birth.

For his utmost devotion, honesty, and sincerity he was unanimously elected as the vice president of the Nowgong Sports Association for several terms.

His selfless contribution and dedication towards sports added many feathers in his cap. He was the ex-vice president of Gymnastic Federation of India, an ex-gymnastics technical official of 9th Asian Games, 1982 held in New Delhi, ex-sectional secretary of gymnastics of Nowgong Sports Association from 1970 to 2000 (30 years), ex-president of Assam Gymnastics Association, ex-vice president of Jugo Physique Association of Assam, etc.

His death was deeply mourned by all sections of people.

The Nowgong Sports Association paid their last tribute at the Nowgong Sports Stadium in the presence of the local MLA of Nagaon Rupak Sharma who is also the executive president of the Nowgong Sports Association along with the vice president and secretary and other office-bearers of Nowgong Sports Association.

The flag of the Nowgong Sports Association was kept half-mast for three days as a mark of respect to the departed soul and his mortal body was also draped with the flag of Nowgaon Sports Association for his last journey to eternity. We pray to Almighty God for granting eternal peace to his departed soul. His loving memory will remain in our hearts forever.
