Muslim man elopes with Hindu girl; arrested in Kerala

NAGAON: Ramijul Islam, a father of three children of Lailuri village under Rupahihat PS was arrested in Kerala for eloping with a Hindu girl of Haibargaon area by a police team led by SI Abhajyoti Rabha, incharge officer of Haibargaon Outpost a week back and brought to Nagaon on Saturday morning. Besides, the police team also rescued the victim girl from Kerala, sources from Nagaon police said.

Sources claimed that the arrested Ramijul who is the father of three children opened a fake Facebook account in the name of one Munna Gogoi and introduced himself as a Hindu youth and came in contact with the victim Hindu girl and seduced her to fall in love with him. Subsequently, in course of time he instigated her to elope with him to get married and ran away from Nagaon a couple of months back.

Meanwhile the mother of the victim girl came to know all in details about the identity of Ramijul Islam and filed a case in Nagaon PS in this regard. During police investigation into the entire episode, police were finally able to trace him in Kerala and a police team led by SI Abhajyoti Rabha rushed to Kerala early in this month.

The sleuth of Nagaon police arrested him on March 4 and produced him at a local court. But Ramijul tried to escape from police when he was taken back from the court and jumped out of the police vehicle. As a result, the arrested Ramijul sustained a fracture on his back waist, sources said, adding that he was later admitted at a local hospital there in Kerala and after treatment over a couple of days in the hospital, the police team took him back to Nagaon on Saturday morning.
