GOLAGHAT: Mustard-seed sowing ceremony was organized on Thursday by Ramdhenu Krishi Samabay Samiti and Jagriti Mahila Samabay Samiti. The programme was organized in collaborations with District Agriculture Office of Golaghat, APART Project - Golaghat and CSS- ATMA Golaghat.

The programme was graced by Sarupathar MLA Biswajit Phukan as the chief guest and General Manager of Numaligarh Refinery Limited Mintu Handique as the guest of honour. The programme started with a welcome address and introductory session by the Secretary of Jagriti Mahila Samabay Samiti Lucky Kalita. Vice Chairperson Banashree Goswami and Members of Jagriti Mahila Samabay Samiti felicitated the chief guest, guest of honour and invitees respectively. Chairperson Junu Gogoi highlighted the mission and visions of Jagriti Mahila Samabay Samiti to the invitees.

Earlier, Sarupathar MLA Biswajit Phukan inaugurated the mustard plot at Salmora Tup Gaon. In his inaugural speech, Biswajit Phukan said that mustard cultivation is gaining popularity among farmers due to better prices. The crop has a special contribution in the Indian economy. Mustard seed has a huge demand and it is very profitable for farmers. The Sarupathar MLA further added, "If you do mustard farming, then you can make huge profits as we know, prices of edible oil have increased significantly during the corona period. Our farmers across the state have significantly extended the area under cultivation of the mustard crop, owing to high mustard crop prices in the previous year."
