NABARD organizes district-level workshop on DEDS

GOLAGHAT: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) organized a district-level workshop on Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Schemes (DEDS) recently in Golaghat. The programme was inaugurated by Dhiren Hazarika, Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat. A number of bankers, head and senior scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), line department officials, including prospective beneficiaries and farmers took part in the programme.

Inaugurating the workshop, Dhiren Hazarika, Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, discussed the sustainable livelihood of the farming community with the help of this programme. He also advised all the stakeholders like LDM, line department officials, bankers, dairy cooperative societies and KVK to work together for the betterment of farming communities and also doubling the farmers’ income by 2022.

Susanta Chakraborty, DDM, NABARD, Golaghat, also discussed the objectives of DEDS for the benefit of dairy farming. He highlighted that the DEDS would be able to generate self-employment and provide infrastructure in the dairy sector. Further, it will also help to set up modern dairy farms and infrastructure for the production of clean milk.

A doubt clear session was also organized for the benefit of the beneficiaries, bankers and line department officials. Head Scientist of KVK, Khumtai, Dr. FU Ahmed answered various queries raised by bankers and line department officials. Samir Ranjan Thakur, LDM, invited bankers to sanction and disburse credit under the DEDS scheme in the district. Further, Dilaur Rahman, RM AGVB, also assured support and cooperation for the implementation of the scheme.
