Nagaland Govt Lauded by 'Angami Youth Organization' for making 14-Day Institutional Quarantine Mandatory

Guwahati:

Lauding the Government for its new order mandating 14-days quarantine for all returning citizens who were stranded amid the lockdown irrespective of where they have come from, the Angami Youth Organization has, at the same time, requested all the returnees to ensure that they adhere to the guidelines laid down by the administration.

"Here in Nagaland", the body said in a communique undersigned by its President Kekhrie Pfukha and Vice President Neidilhuoto Sechu, "our people are apprehensive for the returnees if they do not undergo the 14 days mandatory institutional quarantine. We have heard about cases in neighbouring states particularly in Assam and Manipur where some of the returnees who have come from Mumbai and New Delhi have been tested positive. Now that the Government has put in place more stringent measures to fight the pandemic, the organization welcomes the move of the Government."

The youth body further added that "it should be a collective effort from all concerned stakeholders and individuals to combat the deadly virus. Any form of lapse or lackadaisical approach at this hour can be too costly for the state and its populace."

Additionally, the AYO requested all the returnees to strictly adhere to the guidelines laid down by the State government at the quarantine centres, and further take initiative to protect themselves, such as wearing masks, maintaining safe physical distance and using sanitizers.

The Nagaland Government's New Directive:

Yesterday, the Nagaland Government ordained that from May 18 onwards, all who enter the state must go for mandatory institutional quarantine for 14 days, irrespective of their place of origin of journey.

An official notice issued from the Chief Secretary's office said, "It is hereby ordered that all persons entering the state from 18th May 2020 onwards, irrespective of place of origin of journey shall undergo mandatory 14 (fourteen) days Institutional Quarantine at the designated centers and thereafter proceed for 14 (fourteen) days mandatory Home Quarantine."

It may be mentioned that the State Government, through ACS and Finance Commissioner and convenor of the Empowered Group, Sentiyanger Imchen, had earlier issued a circular dated May 12 also also on May 14, stating that the persons returning from green and orange zones would be sent for 14 days home quarantine after finishing 3 days of institutional quarantine only.
