NAGAON: Dr W Gopimohan Singha (322D), district governor, Lions Club and the head of over 78 Lions Clubs of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur etc. visited Nagaon with a day-long programme and also took part in a slew of programmes organized by Nagaon Lions Club here at Nagaon today.

On the first half of the day, he visited the Bebejia bypass where he participated in a plantation drive at a beautification park set up by Nagaon Lions Club a couple of years back. During his trip to the park, he planted several saplings of trees as well as flowers in the park.

Meanwhile in the evening, he took part in a felicitation programme organized by Nagaon Lions Club in which Dr W Gopimohan Singha as well as other club members of Nagaon unit, felicitated 6 religious priests or caretakers of namghar, mosques, temples, gurudwara, etc. with mementoes, phulam gamusa, seleng and appraisal letters.

The religious caretakers who were felicitated are Haren Bora, caretaker as well as 'Namghoria' of Fauzdaripatty Kolongpar Kirtan Ghor, Shamsul Haque, Imam of Dimaruguri Masjid, Oliv Maria, Father of Nagaon Baptist Church, Jnani Jashbir Singh, pradhan granthi Nanakswar Gurdwara, Borkula and preacher of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, Siva Sankar Bhattacharya, priest of Bengali Pujabari and Kamal Bhatta Rai, priest of Thakurbari temple respectively.

The felicitation programme was chaired by Malchand Agarwal, president of Nagaon Lions Club, stated a press release.
