Nagaon police arrested two persons for controversial Facebook post

NAGAON: Within the last 36 hours, Nagaon police arrested two persons, including a married woman, for a controversial Facebook post where the arrested persons declared to join the militant group ULFA (I) soon, sources added here. Naba Bora was arrested on Monday from the Nonoi area while Sipra Dutta Das, a married woman of Nagaon Kachalukhuwa area, now staying with her husband at a government quarter in Guwahati, was arrested from the quarter in Guwahati early on Wednesday morning, sources said further.

A couple of days back Sipra Dutta Das uploaded a Facebook post where she clearly mentioned her eagerness to join the militant group ULFA (I) soon. She was brought to Nagaon PS right after her arrest. While speaking to some local media persons here at Nagaon PS campus, she, however, alleged that she was being threatened for long by one Tapan Das, a party activist of the ruling BJP and having no option to tackle the situation, she finally expressed her feelings in that way. She alleged that she was being harassed by the party activist for years.

Meanwhile, police produced Naba Bora before a local court on Tuesday and the court sent him in judicial custody, sources said. On the other hand, the arrested woman was being interrogated in Nagaon PS till the time of filing this report, sources added further.
