KOKRAJHAR: Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Narendra Kumar Shah on Friday took charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Chirang district.

Shah replaced Gautam Talukdar who had been transferred on promotion and posted as Secretary, Power (E), Industries and Commerce departments. The 2016-batch IAS officer was an Additional Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi district during his previous posting.

Soon after assuming the charge, the new Deputy Commissioner took an introductory meeting of other officers and sub-ordinate staff in his office chamber. He urged upon the officers and staff to work with added dedication and honesty so that the present development scenario of the district is able to carry out to its higher levels.

Earlier, the outgoing Deputy Commissioner Gautam Talukdar was accorded a farewell in a small function organized in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office here Kajalgaon. Thanking officers and staff of the district administration present on the occasion, he said, "It was a great experience to work with you all, and the cooperation and support extended by you and the people of the district was extremely great." "Teamwork is the key to success. My team and I ensured the development and betterment of Chirang district and I hope the effort in this direction will continue in the future too," he further said.

On the occasion, other district administrative officers and staff felicitated the outgoing Deputy Commissioner with bouquets and Aronai and conveyed their best wishes.
