National Consumer Rights Day observed in DC’s conference hall, Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: The Golaghat district administration and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Branch, Golaghat observed the National Consumer Rights Day on Tuesday in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Dhiren Hazarika. The officials of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Assistant Commissioner and DIPRO Papu Gogoi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dhiraj Das, Election Officer Kokila Gogoi, secretary of Golaghat Bar Association, Durga Prasad Jaiswal, senior journalist Dwipen Dutta, and representatives of various trade associations and consumer rights activists were present at the meeting.
The meeting dealt with various kinds of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and consumer rights topics. The Consumer Protection Act was enacted on this day in 1986 with a view to provide better protection of consumers’ interests.
